We have a new member of the HealthBid team, as Darren O'Meara, an experienced Bid Manager joins us! As part of the induction process, we've interviewed Darren on several important subjects, from cheese to travelling. Read all about it below...

What is your full name?

Darren James O’Meara

What causes are you passionate about?

Performing arts, particularly music

Sum up your day so far in three words

Funky. Fab. Friday.

If you could be anybody for a day, who would you be and why?

I would be Brian O’Driscoll, on the famous Lions tour of 2003, when he got spear tackled. It was two minutes into the first test, and he missed the rest of the tour. I’d avoid the tackle and dish some punishment back to the All Blacks instead. Also, BOD is God.

What was the last thing you Googled?

2017 Grand National Runners

Favourite Pringles flavour?

Paprika

How do you feel about cheese?

Awesome, love it!

Any particular favourites?

Gouda, but cheddar is always good.

Favourite trip abroad?

Australia and New Zealand in 2012 for three weeks, for my honeymoon. My wife and I went from Sydney to the Barrier Reef, then to Auckland and Queenstown on a road trip. I love a road trip.

Do you speak any languages?

My own version of Anglo-Irish! I also speak Gaelic, and broken French - I can say 'How are you?' in many languages!

Name three Ed Sheeran singles - one from each of his albums (we’re big Ed Sheeran fans in this office)

Galway Girl, Castle on the Hill...

I could probably be prompted to pick up a few more though. Ed Sheeran’s not my thing, though I did buy my wife the Ed Sheeran 'Divide' album.... I know there’s a song called Barcelona.

Impressive! If you were an animal what would you be?

King of the jungle - a lion.

Can I ask why?

Course you can ask why - to be able to roam free, without a care in the world. It would be a life of riley.

Name an interesting fact about yourself

I performed as part of the Company Performance Ensemble at the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Ceremonies. As part of the Industrial Revolution-themed Closing Ceremony, I played the drums for Annie Lennox, and performed a cover of David Bowie's 'Fashion'. At the Closing Ceremony for the Paralympics, I was sworn to secrecy as to Rihanna and Jay Z's appearance - they surprised the UK with a performance alongside Coldplay.

Amazing, thanks Darren!
